Aimetis A10D Thin Client Online Help
The Aimetis A10D Thin Client™ is a secure, reliable, and cost-effective PC alternative designed to display 1080p video from network video quickly and easily. View a single camera on demand as well as set up camera views, which are collections of camera layouts, for quick retrieval.
Getting Started
Access the Web Portal
To install the Aimetis Thin Client device, refer to the Quick Start Guide supplied with the product.
The Thin Client web portal can be used with most standard operating systems and browsers. Recommended browsers include: Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, Mozilla® Firefox®, and Google Chrome™.
To access the Thin Client web portal:
- Start a web browser.
- Enter the IP address of the Thin Client device in the browser Location/Address field.
- The first time the device is powered on, you are prompted to run the device Setup Wizard to configure the device.
- When initial setup is complete, you are prompted to set up a camera view consisting of one (1), four (4), or nine (9) cameras on the Configure Camera Views page.
- After initial setup, the device password configured during setup is required to access the web portal.

Change Cameras and Views Remotely
To manage the Thin Client remotely via a smartphone or tablet, install Aimetis Remote for Android or iOS.
Change Cameras and Views through a Browser
Select Remote Control to see real-time still images of what is currently displayed on the HDMI monitor connected to the Thin Client. On the Remote Control page, select a new camera in an existing layout, view a full screen camera, or view a different camera layout.
Note: The cameras available depend on the devices configured in Aimetis Symphony. See the Aimetis Symphony Online Help on the Aimetis website for more information.
Change Cameras
On the current camera view, click on any camera image to select a different camera.
Full Screen
On the current camera view, click the Full Screen icon to view the camera in full screen mode.
Click the Full Screen icon again to return to the previous camera view.
View a Different Camera Layout
Select a different camera layout from the Select View list.
Select Manage Views to create and manage camera layouts.
Create a Camera View
- Enter a camera layout Name.
- Specify the number of cameras in the layout.
- Click on each pane and select each camera.
- Click Save. You are prompted to go the Remote Control page or to add another camera layout.
Delete Camera Views
- Click Delete Views.
- Delete the layout you no longer need.
Important: Changes made to device settings can impact device operation. Use caution when modifying device settings. Your network administrator may need to provide some of these details.
Modify device configuration manually or by re-running the Setup Wizard.
Manage Device Settings Manually
Select the Settings menu option to access the following device settings:
- Device Name: The device on the network. Device Model, Serial Number, and Firmware Version details are also displayed.
- Network Setup: The IP address and network details for the device. The device is configured for DHCP by default; however, a static IP address can be configured manually. In a multiple-device environment, manually assign each device a static IP address to avoid IP address collisions.
- Security: The device Password used to access the Thin Client device through a web browser or mobile device.
- Server Details: Aimetis Symphony™ Mobile Bridge server connection details, including secure SSL via HTTPS when configured.
- Server Time: Device date, time, and time zone as well as NTP synchronization configuration details.
- Maintenance: Device maintenance options. See the next section, Device Maintenance Options, for details.
After making any device changes, click Save.
Device Maintenance Options
- Restart: Click to restart this device.
- Restore: Click to restore this device to its factory settings.
- Update: Click to check online for software updates available for this device. When an update is available, click OK to install the latest firmware. After a firmware update, you are prompted to log in to the web portal.
- Upload: Click to specify device firmware to upload to this device. Use caution when modifying device firmware manually.
- System Log: Click to download system logs for this device.
Run Setup Wizard
Select Settings and click Run Setup Wizard to re-run the Setup Wizard and configure the device. The Setup Wizard includes the following configuration pages. Click Next or click the links at the top of the page to navigate between pages.
- Language: Select the language for the web portal.
- Updates: The device automatically checks online for firmware updates. When an update is available, click Update to install the latest firmware or click Skip to continue configuration. After a firmware update, you are prompted to log in to the web portal.
- Network Setup: By default, the device is configured for DHCP; however, a static IP address can be configured manually. In a multiple-device environment, manually assign each device a static IP address to avoid IP address collisions.
- Updates: Specify whether to check for software updates now or later. If an update is found, you are prompted to download and apply the update now. After an update, the device reboots and the Setup Wizard begins again.
- Regional: Specify device time zone, or configure the device to synchronize with a specific NTP server.
- Configure Password: Specify a password to access and manage this device through a web browser or mobile device. The device password must be between 1-16 characters in length. Confirm the password.
- Video Source: The Thin Client connects to the Aimetis Symphony Mobile Bridge server via an IP address and user credentials. Specify server details as needed. Enable HTTPS if the Mobile Bridge server includes a valid SSL certificate.
- Device Name (Optional): Assign this device a name to identify it on the network.
- Register (Optional): Register the Thin Client device with Aimetis by clicking Register Now. An internet connection is required. Registration can be completed at a later time.
Click Back to return to previous Setup Wizard screens. Click Finish to complete the Setup Wizard.
To restore the device to its factory settings, select Settings, and in the Maintenance section click Restore.
If the web portal is not accessible, the device can be restored to its factory settings by performing a hardware reset instead.
- Using the tip of a pen or a similar object, press and hold the RST button located on the back of the device.
- Continue holding the RST button and:
- Remove power from the device by disconnecting the PoE network cable.
- Reconnect the PoE network cable to the device.
- Wait ten (10) seconds and observe the device LED light flashing.
- When the LED light changes from a flashing orange light to a solid orange light, release the RST button on the device. The restore process is now complete and the device has been restored to its factory settings.
When the device reboots and initializes, access the web portal using a browser and run the device Setup Wizard to configure the device.
Log Out of the Web Portal
Click Log Out in the top right corner to exit the web portal. You are redirected to the Log In page.
