It is often desired to have a matrix switcher display cameras based on alarms occurring in Symphony AC.  This can be accomplished by configuring Symphony AC to output ASCII strings via the serial port. This is accomplished by creating / modifying the camera1.ini file located on the Symphony AC server using the steps detailed below. <BRK> This value is used to separate two (2) commands. <D>  ASCII command for a carriage return. LCM+  Bosch protocol Protocol1   Pelco protocol PREPOS    Used to PTZ to a pre-configured position. ;   Used to comment out text and will be ignored

Bosch camera1.ini

All configurations for the ASCII strings will be stored in the camera1.ini file. This file is located on the Symphony AC server and can be found in the data folder.  The default location of the data folder is C:\Program Files\Symphony AC\Data.

  1. To modify the camera1.ini file navigate to the data folder located on the Symphony AC server.
  2. Locate the camera1.ini file and perform a right mouse click. Select the Open with option from the menu list provided.  Click on the Choose a default Program. Option.  Select Notepad as the desired program to open the file.
  3. Modify the ini file with the appropriate information as outlined below. A sample ASCII command string is shown in the example below.
  4. Once the applicable information has been entered into the ini file, save and close the file.

[1.11.5.I11] This is the location of the monitor point, when this point goes into alarm ASCII string will be sent via serial connection to the matrix switcher.  The address is in the following: Position 1 indicates the driver number Position 2 indicates the controller address number Position 3 indicates the sub-controller address number. Position 4 indicates the monitor point address number. Command = 1 This option will always remain Command = 1 Camera1 = 2.0.0.C15 This is the physical address for the camera location. Position 1 indicates the driver number Position 2 is the virtual controller address. Position 3 is the virtual sub-controller address Position 3 is the device address. These addresses can be referenced from the Hardware Manager tree. Position 4 indicates the camera number. Monitor1=2.0.0.M9 This is the physical address for the Monitor number connected to the Matrix Switcher. Position 1 indicates the driver number Position 2 is the virtual controller address. Position 3 is the virtual sub-controller address Position 3 is the device address.  These addresses can be referenced from the Hardware Manager tree. Position 4 indicates the Monitor number. Protocol1=LCM+ 15 9<D><BRK> PREPOS 15 20 This is the ASCII string sent to the Matrix Switcher. Protocol1=LCM+ indicates this is a Bosch protocol. Position 1 indicates the camera number as indicated above this example is referencing camera 15. Position 2 indicates the Monitor to output to As indicated above this example is referencing monitor 9. Position 3 is the ASCII command for carriage return. Position 4 is required when multiple commands will be sent in the ASCII string. Position 5 is used to call pre-programmed PTZ position 20 on camera 15

Stopping the Bosch Driver

  1. Go to Symphony AC software and click on the Hardware Manager Button.
  2. Unlock the module to allow for editing of the screen.
  3. Highlight the Bosch driver from the hardware tree located in the column on the left.
  4. Right click on the driver and select Driver Commands from the menu list.
  5. From the Driver Commands menu list select Stop Driver.

Starting the Bosch Driver

Note: The Driver will support Com Ports 1-16.  

  1. Go to Symphony AC and click on the Hardware Manager Button.
  2. Unlock the module to allow for editing of the screen.
  3. Highlight the Bosch driver from the hardware tree located in the column on the left.
  4. Right click on the driver and select Driver Commands from the menu list.
  5. From the Driver Commands menu list select Start Driver.

Note: It is imperative that the Bosch driver be stopped and restarted before changes made to the ini file will take effect.
