How to install a Device Pack

To check which Device Pack is already installed in your Symphony version:

  • In Symphony, from the Help menu, select About. The Device Pack version number is displayed.

Before downloading the Device Pack from the Senstar website, consider the following:

  • You must update the server to ensure that all clients on a farm will receive updates.
  • If you have multiple farms registered in a client-only configuration and no farm is designated as the manager for device pack updates (Symphony Client Settings, Update tab, Updates are managed by server option), then you must download the DevicePack Client to update the client.



When you install Symphony server, the _updates folder contains ONLY the Client Updates installer, not the DevicePack installer. Hence it CANNOT push DevicePack updates to clients.

  • If the client is a different version, it will push a CLIENT update which effectively updates the client's device pack.
  • If the client is the SAME version, it should have the same DevicePack version; hence no update is required. This means that if the client's DevicePack has been updated (or downgraded), the server will not automatically downgrade (or upgrade) it because it cannot.
    Workaround: If you install the SAME DevicePack on the Server, it will put the DevicePack client installer into the _updates folder and have no other real impact on the server. This will cause clients to update.

Running the Installation

Ensure you have the right Device Pack version for your version of Symphony.

  1. Run the Device Pack installation. The Setup Wizard Welcome screen opens. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. If a Setup Cannot Continue error message is displayed after clicking Next on the Welcome screen, see this KB article for specific error descriptions and solutions.
  3. If a Warning message is displayed after clicking Next on the Welcome screen, you can continue with the installation or call Support for assistance.
  4. Select the I accept the terms in the License Agreement check box and click Install.
