Prior to completing any of the steps below please make sure the Symphony AC application is running on the server machine. Clients will be unable to connect without the application running on the server in some capacity (GUI mode or Service Mode). Please do the following to troubleshoot client connectivity:

  1. From the server please make sure the Data folder is shared with Read / Write permissions for any Windows user that will be accessing the Symphony AC application.
  2. From the Client machine, go to the Windows Start Menu, All Programs, Symphony AC, Configuration Options.
  3. Copy the location in the "Remote Path" box. The Remote path should appear as \\servername\sharename (If a mapped drive is created please make sure the drive mapping is going to the Data share)
  4. From the Windows Run line (Windows Start Menu, Run or if the Run line is not being displayed click on the flying Windows key and the letter R simultaneously) paste the location copied from the Remote Path in Configuration Options.

If you are prompted to authenticate this is an issue that can cause the client to be unable to connect. If prompted please authenticate and attempt to write a blank folder to Data folder. If this step is unsuccessful do not proceed until the permissions have been configured properly.   If the above steps have been completed successfully and you are still unable to connect please complete the following steps:

  1. From the Client machine, go to the Windows Start Menu, All Programs, Symphony AC, Configuration Options.
  2. In the section labeled Advanced uncheck the box labeled “Hide SQL Login” setting it to a value of “False”.
  3. Save your changes and launch the application from the client machine.
  4. Enter in the SQL Server Name, please do not place \\ before the Server Name, this will cause the connection to fail.
  5. Enter the Database Name
  6. Enter the SQL username
  7. Enter the SQL password – although it appears there is already a password entered please enter your password into the box.
  8. Enter the Name of the database
  9. Please note all this information must be entered correctly or the connection will fail.

If the above steps have been completed successfully and you are still unable to connect please complete the following steps:

  1. From the Windows Run line (Windows Start Menu, Run or if the Run line is not being displayed click on the flying Windows key and the letter R simultaneously) type in regedt32 and hit the enter key.
  2. Go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Senstar CORPORATION\Symphony AC\OS if you are running a 64 bit OS you will need to go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\Senstar CORPORATION\Symphony AC\OS locate the registry key Registration_Code, when modifying this key the field should be blank if you see DEMOEVALDEMOEVAL please modify the key and remove the value.
  3. Attempt to launch the software from the client again once the steps have been completed.

If the above steps have been completed successfully and you are still unable to connect please do the following:

  1. From Data Sources (ODBC) click on the User DSN tab.
  2. Highlight the RDO_Access ODBC Connection and click on Edit.
  3. Please go through configuration of the ODBC connection and ensure you are able to connect to the database from ODBC Manager. If the connection fails you will need to resolve this issue before connection to the Symphony AC software will be successful.
