Convergence, Convenience and IP Surveillance
Convergence and connectivity have changed the way we access information. Information conveniently flows to us thanks to fast, cheap Internet available everywhere and the smartphones that use it.
Smartphones and tablets are quickly closing the computing gap because they are more convenient to use than PCs and many applications do not require a QWERTY keyboard to operate. iPhone has already become the second-largest handheld gaming platform in terms of installed base and is set to surpass global leader Nintendo. In Canada, a recent study shows 38 percent of smartphone users use mobile banking apps for daily banking—very impressive considering that the first banking app was introduced only 18 months ago.
The security industry is also increasingly touched by mobile technology. Many VMS providers have moved away 3rd party integrations and developed their mobile app in-house, since this has become core to the overall VMS offering. In a recent survey of Aimetis partners, the top requested features were tied to mobile apps. Mobile apps are no longer a “wish list” feature but an absolute requirement of doing business and staying competitive.
Mobile apps will profoundly change video surveillance. Many end users rarely use their current video system because it is inconvenient to access and difficult to use—often requiring manufacturer training. Mobile apps solve both issues simultaneously, providing a straightforward user experience and giving access anywhere the Internet is available by the end user simply reaching into his/her pocket.
Accordingly, Aimetis is deeply committed to strengthening our mobile offerings and the release of Aimetis Symphony Mobile 2.0 is just the beginning. In the first two weeks we have had over 1,200 installations and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Based on your feedback, the next release will include many requested features and improvements, including our popular Timeline, Rule management and more video streaming enhancements.
According to Cisco, by 2016, there will be 10 billion Internet-enabled devices globally and smartphone traffic will grow 50 times the size it is today. Mobility is no longer a nice to have — it’s a critical piece of IP Surveillance and will become a game changer for our industry.
Sincerely,
Justin Schorn

Authorized Partner Training
|
|
In 2012, Aimetis introduced a number of new offerings to the market and made over 350 product enhancements and major features to Aimetis Symphony™ video management software. We look to build on this positive momentum in the New Year by increasing our R&D investment and deliver more new products and services that meet the evolving needs of our partners.
To help accelerate the transfer of new product information and technical knowledge, Aimetis also expanded its Learning Services tools in the past year. Our 24x7 eLearning platform, online Knowledge Base and a growing library of product documentation are just some of the self-service offerings made available to our partners recently.
This program is designed to assist our valued partners with the continuous product education and knowledge transfer necessary to ensure their ongoing success with our new and future offerings.
What You Need To Do:
Aimetis urges all current Certified and Authorized Partners to re-train their employees who install Aimetis software in the period of January 1st, 2013 to February 28th, 2013. This ensures that all partners will be educated on the same feature releases and product advancements.
Re-Certification/Re-Authorization Key Points:
- Updated understanding on new products and feature advancements
- Improved knowledge of existing breadth of product
- Expiration is one (1) calendar year after date of issue
- Renewals are completed online, finished by a brief quiz
Key Dates:
- Renewal Start Date: January 1, 2013
- Renewal Due Date: February 28, 2013
Note: If any additional comments arise, please contact learning@aimetis.com for further information.

At Aimetis, anticipating potential installation problems before they arise is one of the key contributors to a problem-free installation. Nearly 10% of all Aimetis service and support calls in 2012 were of a time sensitive issue made by a field installer during an installation. We believe that with an increased level of product knowledge, partners will be able to identify these reoccurring installation difficulties and overcome them, before they arise.
In response to our customer requests, Aimetis is launching the Aimetis Commissioning Program effective January 1st, 2013. This program will offer Certified and Authorized partners an increased level of service, specifically allowing them the opportunity to pre-book Aimetis Technical Support services. This will ensure that Aimetis partners are enabled to deliver flawless deployments and technical implementation on every on-site visit.
The Aimetis Commissioning Service & Support Program:
- No Hassle Calendar Sign-Up, allowing Certified and Authorized partners to reserve technical support on stand-by with at least two (2) weeks advance notice.
- Technical support representatives available Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in the local time zone in which the appointment is being booked.
- Minimum booking of a two (2) hour time slot, not later than 4:00pm.
Cancellation Policy:
- 48 hours cancellation notice required, otherwise an one (1) hour charge will be incurred.
- If given more than 48 hours’ notice, a credit will be given to your account to use for future commissioning services.
For further details on the commissioning program please click here.
For further information on the commissioning pricing please contact sales@aimetis.com.

The Aimetis Purple Dollar (MDF) program has allowed many partners the opportunities to increase their local marketing spend, garnering success. Aimetis understands that you are the closest to the customers in your specific region and also have the most insight as to what marketing activities will be the best utilization of funds. This is why the Aimetis Purple Dollar (MDF) program is so crucial to our mutual success.
Distributors will be eligible to receive Purple Dollars if they achieve a minimum sales volume US or EURO (depending on the currency of your Aimetis account) of Aimetis sales in the corresponding quarter. In addition, all distributors must provide an up-to-date Pipeline Forecast for the next quarter in order to be eligible. See more details on the Pipeline Forecast, here.
The Aimetis Purple Dollars are valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of initial availability. For example, Aimetis Purple Dollars earned during Q1 are made available on the first day of Q2 (April 1) and are valid until the last day of Q1 (March 31) of the following year. Aimetis Purple Dollars not used within the eligible period will be forfeited.
