Aimetis Symphony Securing the Students at Sultan Zainal Abidin University, Malaysia

New university first opened its doors in 2005

Waterloo, Canada - 2011-09-15

Aimetis Corp., a global leader in intelligent IP video management software, today announced that Sultan Zainal Abidin University, a public university located in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, is utilizing Aimetis Symphony across the campus to help protect students and faculty and increase overall school security.

Located on a 350-acre site with three separate campuses and over 5000 students, the first program to be offered by Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UniSZA) was a Diploma in Islamic Studies and it has since expanded to multiple undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the various faculties and centers including a faculty of medicine and health sciences. As the university has grown in size, it was important to have a scalable solution that reduces the need for security staff to constantly monitor all areas of the campus and instead allows them to be alerted to specific emergency situations as they arise. Aimetis Symphony is largely being used for both motion tracking and perimeter breach along with over 40 Vivotek and Sony fixed dome cameras.

"Using Aimetis Symphony has increased the safety for students and visitors at the University" said Wan Mohd Hasbullah Bin Wan Abdul Rahman of IT Officer Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin Terengganu, Malaysia. "Instead of having security staff constantly monitor the university compound visually, the software is being used to detect any suspicious activity taking place within the university and security guards are dispatched to respond to anything inappropriate".

The university plans to increase the number of cameras and Aimetis Symphony licenses in the upcoming year as it continues its quarterly expansion of security measures to additional faculties and buildings on the campus.

"Aimetis is proud to be able to assist in providing a safe environment for the University", said Marc Holtenhoff, CEO, Aimetis Corp. "The scalability of the Aimetis solution and our simple licensing model will make it easier for the University to plan for future growth".
