Where AIRA keeps Data

AIRA stores three kinds of data to your hard disk. The Binary files, the video data, and configuration information in a SQL Server Express Database. To properly protect your system from a disaster, you must backup all three types of data. While AIRA does have some rudimentary backup tools, it only backups up information stored in the SQL Database.

AIRA is installed by default in C:\Program Files\Aimetis\AIRA\.

Binary files are located in C:\Program Files\Aimetis\Aira\_bin

Video data is located in C:\Program Files\Aimetis\Aira\data (unless the path was changed by the user, see Hard Disk configuration for more information).

The C:\Program Files\Aimetis\Aira\data folder contains the following subfolders:

_backups	Used to store Aimetis auto backups of configuration.
_documents	Contains misc data.
_footagearchive	Contains video data. You can customize the location of where AIRA stores video from the Hard Drive configuration form.
_footagearchive2	Contains search results and recurring search requests.
_images	Contains cached jpg files. Each time a user requests a still image, AIRA compiles a jpg image from the MPEG4 file.
_logs	Contains log files.
_logs2	Contains log files.
_signals	Contains the meta data information displayed on the Time Graph.
_signals2	Contains more detailed meta data regarding object locations and type for quick searching.
_sounds	Contains any sound files a user uploads to the system, used in Policies Actions or in the Alarm Console.
_tools	Miscellaneous tools.
_versions	Contains old AIRA versions.

By default, AIRA auto-stores the configuration once per week to the \_backups\ folder. This does not protect you if the hard disk fails, or if the AIRA PC is otherwise damaged. It is recommended you use 3rd party backup utilities "ghost" your entire PC after you have installed AIRA. If the AIRA PC hard disk is damaged, you can restore AIRA to its original state.
